I've worked outdoors most of my life, training young ski racers, instructors, and recreational skiers in the UK and around Europe.
I've read, watched, listened to and loved science fiction since I first clapped eyes on Gerry Anderson's "Space 1999" in the 1970s
I started writing at the age of 12; at the time wanting to create comic strips like those I waited for every week in the ground-breaking UK sci-fi weekly, 2000ad.
They say a picture paints a thousand words, but I soon realised I could write a thousand words in a lot less time than it would take me to draw a comic panel anybody would want to look at, so I soon began to write just to be read, leaving the images to the mind's eye.
Whilst not exactly prolific, publishing my second full novel has me overtaking J.D. Salinger and Emily Brontë, and level pegging with Harper Lee (telling myself this makes me feel better). Now if I could just match their sales I'd be more than satisfied.
After 3 decades as a ski professional I'm still working as a ski coach, keeping my brain young working with kids as young as 3 and as old as 83.
I'm still developing new teaching systems and refining methodology that has been helping intermediate and advanced skiers move on from whatever plateaus or difficulties they may have reached in their skills or confidence.
I have often joked I will one day write a ski book called "You Ski Like An Idiot" which is still currently a joke.
At quieter times I walk my dogs, read, and stream games online for a small but charmingly sarcastic audience.
